There’s really no fight anymore is there? players are prioritising fame over passion nowadays in my opinion . I wish Derbies were still as intense as they used to be, of course some particular derbies do provide us with the excitement they should naturally give us for example the old firm derby always provides us with a good watch because of the history between the two teams…

But in my opinion some of the more older derbies have died down over the last 5-10 years, for example the merseyside derby which was once famed as the best derby in Europe now has become an annual snooze fest because of its lack of passion which was historically Embeded into the two teams , the games just don’t feel the same to watch anymore, which is very sad to me..

Another good example of a derby that is still very alive to this day is the superclasico, which is a match between Boca juniors and river plate. This rivalry has been going on since 1913 with it being hailed as the best derby in the world because of the fan bases of the two teams ,there has been 248 total matches between the two sides with Boca edging river plate with 89 wins to river plates 83.This derby is a great example of passion in the players and the fans because nothing in this match is to do with money or fame, its all to do with passion and the actual pride of winning and beating their arch enemies…
